Fat Knot #2

Check out the second fat knot. Sporting some dominant colors for Advent. This was actually a really good fat knot. I really needed a spread collar shirt to show it off, but the purple shirt matched up well with the Advent season, so I went with it… Next week, I’ll be sporting a spread collar shirt so you can really see a dominant Fat Knot. The tie worn this week was from the ‘sale table’ at Jos A. Bank. Most of their ties are really good for Fat Knots. They also offer extra long ties so you can get even closer to the high-caliber type of Fat Knot worn by Michael Irvin.

I love both the 12/3 and the 12/10 Fat Knots. Both exude confidence. Love, Mom

Brian, the key does in fact lie within the extra long tie. I usually sport bow ties, as you know, but sometimes the occasion calls for a long tie. My most recent purchase (actually a gift from my wife) was from Ben Silver, another fine purveyor of ‘fine shirtings and neckwear’. It is in the standard length, and I find that if I ‘rock the fat knot’, as is my preference for long ties, the tail end of the tie is not long enough to reach the tail end keeper and flops around. Maybe I can have the keeper moved up the tie.

Additionally, in my official Department of the Army photo, I am ‘rocking the fat knot’.
