Fat Knot #18 comes from the Donald Trump Signature Collection. It was acquired from K&G Fashion Super Store in Greenville, SC. This is a bit of a departure from some of the more flashy knots from prior weeks. Not that I’m a big fan of Trump, but I had noticed the he and his son rocked fat knots on the cover of a Forbes magazine a co-worker, B-Nys, let me check out. When I saw that he had is own line of ties (that were suitable for rocking fat knots), I had to pick a couple up. I needed some patriotic colors for Memorial Day, anyway.
I’ve been working with JEPP this morning. A co-worker, Joe Grant, recommended it to me for cases where we have a need to run some of our Python based tools from Java. It turns out that it works pretty well and I think it may help us out with a few things at work. One thing that I was pleased to find came from this example:
dualmini:~/Work/jep-2.2 corbinbs$ cat test2.py
class Twig(Exception):
pass
x = 1
if x == 1:
raise Twig("I'm a pretty error message!")
dualmini:~/Work/jep-2.2 corbinbs$
dualmini:~/Work/jep-2.2 corbinbs$ java -jar jep.jar test2.py
jep.JepException: : I'm a pretty error message!
at jep.Jep.run(Native Method)
at jep.Jep.runScript(Jep.java:191)
at jep.Jep.runScript(Jep.java:167)
at jep.Run.run(Run.java:58)
at jep.Run.main(Run.java:153)
dualmini:~/Work/jep-2.2 corbinbs$
So, it looks like CPython exceptions bubble back up quite nicely. This will likely help us improve some of our error handling/reporting in cases where we’ve got Java tools/apps calling out to some of our Python tools. JEPP is definitely worthy of the “Rock The Fat Knot” stamp of approval.
No new fat knot this Sunday….
BUT I do have a new suit to rock!
This Sunday I rocked the Poplin to
Westminster Presbyterian Church. It was approved by
F. Hugh Atkins (fellow choir member and tenor) and several others. I also completed my acquisition of a seer sucker suit. I’m going to try to coordinate with Hugh one Sunday so we can rock the seer on the same day. My wife and I are also planning a trip to Beaufort,
SC soon to visit with her family. There are a
TON of die hard southern players down there. So, I’ll be sure to take the Seer Sucker!

One of my co-workers, Bob Peasley, gave me a bottle of his home-brewed
mead to try out. Well, last night, my wife and I decided to pop the bottle open to see what mead was all about. Bob warned me that it would be sweet and a little more potent than an average beer. He was correct on both! I enjoyed it, though. I actually thought it was very good. I’ve got to be honest however…. I don’t think I could drink more than one bottle at a sitting…. I don’t think I could get up the next morning to Rock the Fat Knot! Bob, great job on the mead! If things at work continue to stay busy, I may need a five gallon bucket of this stuff!
My wife recently got me a new shirt. But, it’s not just any shirt… It’s an
ULTRA wide spread collar… the kind that are
PERFECT for rocking a fat knot. Don’t let your fat knots hide behind an over-bearing collar…. Rock the Spread Collar
The awesome Steve Harvey Collection has provided us with Fat Knot #17. This is the 3rd and final Fat Knot from my recent tie acquisition at K&G Fashion Superstore in Greenville, SC. This tie provides quality material and looks to make the quintessential Fat Knot!
Tomorrow my wife and I will be celebrating our 2-year wedding anniversary. She’s acquired a new spread-collar shirt for me…. which, of course, means that I now need to acquire an appropriate fat knot for it! I’ve also been considering the acquisition of a seersucker suit so that I can be like Capt. Hyleman. He’s been rocking the seer for quite some time. …and you can’t be a die-hard southern player without one! :-)
