As part of our recent “cost down” efforts, my wife and I recently canceled our DirecTV subscription. We were pleased with the service. We just were not using it much. My wife has recently gone back to school to work on a BFA degree at Converse College. While doing some research at the Spartanburg County Public Library one day, she noticed that they had quite an array of DVDs available for checkout. They had the Sopranos, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, etc. (They seem to have most of the HBO shows.) Since then, we’ve been making use of their extensive DVD library. I’m very pleased to see our local public library offer such a huge DVD selection. The public library’s website, www.infodepot.org, even offers a waiting list function (just like with books). Why pay for rentals when your tax dollars have already helped to stock an awesome DVD library? I salute those who have worked to build up the libraries collection of DVDs. With gas and grocery prices on the rise, it’s nice to be able to enjoy quality entertainment for no extra cost. If you’re looking to save some dollars, check out your local public library. They might have a good DVD collection, too.
